Obituary of John L. Simpson
Mr. John L. Simpson, Sr., 73, of Moyer Street, Canajoharie, NY passed away at home early Morning October 28, 2022, following a long illness surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 8, 1949, in Amsterdam, NY he was the son of Arthur Simpson and Mary Weaver Simpson. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School. He moved to Canajoharie in 2012 previously living in Sprakers, NY.
Mr. Simpson was a long-distance driver for FedEx and former school principal for The Fordsbush Bible Christian Academy.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam, obtaining the rank of E-4.
He was a member of the Fordsbush Bible Church.
Mr. Simpson was an avid reader, reading his bible as often as he could. He enjoyed camping in his RV and traveling across the USA. When they first got their RV, he and his wife spent almost an entire year traveling.
On January 28, 1973, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Arabia, John married Doris Morey.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Doris N. Simpson of Canajoharie, NY; children Michele Bramer and Ronald, Harry Starr, John L. Simpson, Jr., Jaime Simpson, Kelly Simpson, and Dominick Simpson; Brothers Arthur Simpson, David Simpson (predeceased) and Robert Simpson; Sisters Jeanette Mckinney and Esther Simpson; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday November 1, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, Inc, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A funeral will take place on Wednesday November 2, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the chapel of Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, the Rev. Eric Handel officiating.
Burial will take place at Canajoharie Falls Cemetery with military honors by the US Marine Corp. following the funeral service.
