Scott Stevens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ottman Funeral Home - Cherry Valley on Dec. 13, 2025.
Scott Spencer Stevens, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, legendary cat dad, and friend, passed peacefully Wednesday, December 3, 2025 on a snowy day in his warm mountain home, in the loving arms of his family.
Scott greeted every challenge with determination and every person with kindness. Whether he was sharing a story, traveling with his family, spoiling his six kitties, taking care of his land, visiting Disney, restoring his 1952 Ford pickup, or offering help before anyone had to ask, Scott had a way of making the world feel steadier, safer, lighter, and brighter.
Scott was born August 25, 1952 in Amsterdam, NY, graduated from Canajoharie High School, and he loved his little hometown of Canajoharie. He is survived and dearly missed by his wife of 40 years Cindy, daughter Stacey (Matt) Lemma, son Eachan (Kathryn) Stevens, grandchildren Finley, Nick, and Sonny Lemma, brother Greg (Cheryle) Stevens, sister Michelle (Tom) Ashworth, sister Linette Stevens, mother-in-law Susie Mahn, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Marian Stevens, brother Craig and his wife Linda Stevens, and his father-in-law Kurt Mahn.
He will be remembered for his loyalty, quirky humor, steady presence, and the way he made others feel seen and valued. Whether it was ordering a milkshake, having a cup of coffee, or checking in for a doctor's appointment, Scott greeted everyone he encountered with a smile, a warm greeting, a genuine interest in how they were doing, and for some, a Monty Python quote.
Scott was an Eagle Scout and the proud recipient of his grandson's Eagle Scout Mentor pin. In his professional career, he worked diligently and leveraged his engineering and quality skills to improve candy and gum at Lifesavers, peanut packaging at Planters, jellybeans at Schoolhouse Candy, and precision castings at AMT Manufacturing.
Although our hearts are broken, Scott wished for his Celebration of Life to be a happy get-together full of love and good memories. Family and friends are welcome to join us on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 3-8PM for an open house gathering at the firehouse in Ames, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be sent in his memory to Glen Animal Rescue Fund, 221 Burley Rd, Fultonville, NY 12072. Please consider performing an act of kindness, telling a funny story, or making someone smile in his memory-just as he so often did for others.
