Jack was my brother and best friend. I have been so moved reading these entries that I feel it so important to thank you all. Jack was certainly an "original" that you each appreciated...importantly, he knew that you were "originals" also ....that is why you probably got along so well. God bless.

Originals are originals for a reason. They may may be often copied or imitated, but they CANNOT be replaced. Here is to an original life and soul. God bless.

My brother and I were both taught by Jack at Fairfield Prep. He was a great man and a wonderful teacher, easy to admire, like the kind of man we wanted to grow up to be. We are so sorry for your loss but so grateful to have had Jack in our lives.

My Condolences to the Slavinsky Family.
Jack was a legendary teacher, coach and above all, the consummate Crusader. The entire SCHS/TCHS Family has lost a great friend and mentor.
Jack will be sorely missed but always remembered by the countless young people whose lives he touched.

My Condolences to Jacks family at his passing, although he was my teacher at SCHS. 35 years ago I can remember his class as if it was yesterday. He was a great teacher and will always be remembered.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Slavinsky family. I had a chance to speak to Jack recently. Of course, we spoke at length about football and many wonderful memories from the Catholic High days. RIP Jack.

To Ellen and Jack's family, We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of Jack! My post on facebook. I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. Jack certainly lived by some of the quotes from Thoreau in Walden. Rest in peace dear Jack and thank you!!!

Jack was my coach and English teacher in the 70's at SCHS.
Things I will always remember about Jack:
Never/ever stand straight up at D-End when playing Danbury
Watch Nova and learn about the caribou
Don't run with the bulls on the day the Miura Bulls fight
Respect lightening Bring it in
RIP Coach

Best to The Family for a great loss to the SCHS community.....played under Jack at SCHS and learned ethics, fortitude and his zeal for the game.....and the game of life. To the extended family...grab that magic moment Jack gave you and run with it in your own life

To the Slavinsky Family,
The loss of a family member is always difficult to accept.
Jack was taken too soon. He was a man with a kind heart a big smile and a love for his fellow man.
Jacks finest hours after his family were teaching and coaching.and he did his job well.
May he rest in peace.
