John H. Smith, 65, of the Beech Creek Community, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Thursday, October 17. John was born and raised in Beech Creek and was known and loved by many. He graduated from Rogersville High School in 1977. Following graduation he went to work for JP Stevens Cotton Mill, where he worked for 27 years. He also worked as an electrician for 15 years in the Kingsport City School System. John retired from his long career of hard work in June of 2021. He loved deer and turkey hunting and target practice. John was a loving and caring father to his son, Isaac and a beloved husband to his wife of 44 years, Alisa.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Anna and father, Jake Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Alisa Smith; son, Isaac Smith; father-in-law, Olen Sloan; sibling, Polly Smith Bernard (George); brother-in-law, Eddie Sloan (Sherre); sisters-in-law, Judy Wilmoth (Albert), Sandra Sloan (Greg); nephews, Andy Bernard, Matthew Sloan, Chad Sloan, Lynn Wilmoth; and best friend, Ed Redmond.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Cemetery in Beech Creek, with Pastor Bobby Bernard officiating.
