John Joseph Spilis, age 64 of Bridesburg, Philadelphia passed away at home on October 18th, 2025. He was a loving and devoted father to his daughter, Angelica Spilis. He was a loving son to Joseph and Marie Spilis, brother to Joseph Spilis and wife Kathy, David Spilis, and Kathryn DiPasquale and husband George, a beloved uncle to Jennifer Uzupis and husband Daniel, Christopher DiPasquale and his husband Herbie Hickmott, and Malinda DiPasquale. Also survived by many cousins and friends.
John lived and grew up in Philadelphia. He worked building furniture for many years and worked for Historical Documents Company where he dedicated much of his time. He was a hardworking man and always looked out for people in the neighborhood. If someone needed help, he was there. He was a superhero. Everyone could always count on him. He was the kindest person you could ever meet. The most happy and generous man.
He loved smooth jazz music. He created a YouTube channel where he played smooth jazz music and added pictures to match the song. He loved the ocean, birds, and fish. He dreamt of going to Saint Croix to swim with the turtles and drink non-alcoholic Pina Coladas. He will be missed and always loved by his family who now have a deep hole in their lives and heart.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his life on Friday October 24th from 10AM to 12 noon at Slabinski Sucharski Funeral Home 2614 Orthodox Street. Prayer service will be held at 10:30am. Words of remembrance will begin at noon.
