Marie Spilis Obituary
Marie Spilis (née Mahetta), age 90 of Bridesburg, Philadelphia passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Joseph H. Spilis (d. 1990). Loving mother of Joseph Spilis and his wife Kathy, David Spilis, John Spilis, and Kathryn DiPasquale and her husband George. Dear grandmother of Jennifer Uzupis and husband Daniel, Angelica Spilis, Christopher DiPasquale and his husband Herbie Hickmott, and Malinda DiPasquale. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Marie lived and grew up in Philadelphia. She worked as a seamstress for many years at Vogue Sportswear and Jean Noble Company. Marie was also a talented baker, especially Polish desserts. She loved to host family parties and play penuchle with her sisters. She also enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, telling her favorite stories from her past.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday August 28th from 10 AM to 11 AM at Slabinski Sucharski Funeral Home 2614 Orthodox Street. Funeral service will be held 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Valentine’s Cemetery.
