Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home on Mar. 4, 2026.
:
John Fredrick "Fred" Stanley, 90, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Friday February 27, 2026.
Born October 15, 1935, in Meigs County, Ohio, he was the only child of the late Myrtle Helen
(Morris) and John Stanley. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years June Ann (Dorsey) Stanley.
He is survived by children Brenda Stanley, and Brent Stanley, grandchildren Meg Stanley,
Max (Caitlin) Feldman, Cara (Kyle) Mackenzie, Ben (Gwen) Feldman, Clay (Alexandra) Stanley,
and greatgrandchildren Sutton Joy Stanley, Jackson Stanley, and Warren Feldman.
To know Fred was to love him. He always had a line of jokes that kept you wanting
more. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
A proud lifelong member of the Albany community. He was a 1953 graduate of
Scipio High School in Harrisonville, Ohio. Fred served nearly 50 years as a committed
member of the Eastern Star, holding many offices in the Albany Chapter #558, and
the Harrisonville Chapter #255. He was also a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge #411,
in Harrisonville, as well as Albany Masonic Lodge # 723. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite
Mason. Fred was also a very active member of the Shriners Aladdin Temple, and
Athens County Shrine Club.
As an avid traveler Fred and his late wife June visited all 50 U.S. States. They particularly
loved Myrtle Beach, which they visited every year on their wedding anniversary in August.
as Fred always said, "the dog days of summer!" Fred will always be remembered as a great
Farm "boy" that produced lovely gardens of produce galore. He also loved reading, Country
Music, and playing checkers. He loved good food, and feeding the birds.
Graduated the "Chicken King" received a full scholarship out West, but declined
to stay on the Snowville Farm. Fred could spell, said "that's because he graduated
from Scipio High!" He excelled in all he did and will be dearly missed.
Special shout out to Kyle and Jennifer and kids Riley and Jessica Wagner.
your care was tremendous. Adding a special Thank-you to Dad's Special Friend,
Shelia Guthrie of Albany.
Visitation will be Saturday March 7, 2026, 12-2 P.M. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, funeral
service at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. William "Will" Stanley officiating, and burial in Alexander Cemetery.
