John Stephen Obituary

John Stephen Hellman was born August 19, 1960, to Allen and June Hellman of Lafayette, Louisianna, and passed away December 11, 2025, in Manor, Texas where he was residing. He started school in San Marcos, Texas and obtained his degree in History at Southwest Texas State University. Employment included Aquarena, SMISD, the Red Cross, TDSHS, Gary Job Corps and the Manor Journal. His hobbies included anything Star Trek, coaching Little League, being with family and his beloved pets, and singing. John served as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Elgin, and was blessed by his church family, and many of his friendships along the way.

He is survived by brother Don Hellman and wife Debbie, sister Susan Franzetti, nephew Canyon Franzetti and wife Alivia; niece Gianna Gortva, husband Ricky and child Dakota, along with Zachary Tschirhart and Sara Kovelan whom he loved and shared his life with.

The family wants to thank the employees of HEB Manor for coming to his immediate rescue after a heart attack, the Manor Police, and Travis County's ESD 12, EMS, and Sheriff's office. Thank you all for the excellence, prayers, kind thoughts and kindnesses shared.

His Celebration of Life will be held January 17, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church in Elgin, Texas at 2p with a small reception following. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the First Presbyterian Church 303 N Ave. C in Elgin, Texas 78621 in care of their food pantry.

Mr. Hellman was always there to help students and staff. He went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service to every one of us. His work ethic was amazing and was only outdone by his enormous care and compassion for others. He will be missed on campus. My condolences to his family. Thank you for sharing him with us, he touched lives and made a difference.
