Just found out about John's passing him and my father were good friends years ago. Cathy and my mother were friends as well. I can remember many trips up to the Fairmont area for us to stay the weekend with them and John and dad would ride bikes together. He will be missed by my mother and father as well.

So sorry to hear about John. I know there are no words of comfort I can offer right now that will ease the pain of your loss. But I hope knowing that there are thoughts and prayers surrounding you that you will gain strength to carry on a step at a time. He was a sweet soul and I will cherish the memories I have of him through the years. Take care of yourself and know you are loved.

Dear Kat: So sorry to hear about John-he was such a support to Bill and me. He always took time to talk with Bill anytime. I really enjoyed working with him back in the 70's at mental health & getting to meet you. Rest assured Heaven has gained a wonderful soul but we will see him again. Love, Pat

Dear Kat,

I am so sorry to hear this. The girls at the jail called me to let me know you had called.

I appreciate you letting us know. I missed John when he left the jail, I left there myself a couple years ago, but the girls sent me a message and told me, that he had told them to tell me Hi, when he was there for a class a few months back. It made my day to know that he was thinking of me. This news saddens me greatly.

I think of John every time I see the little rocking chair that he repaired for me one time.

Words cannot express how very sorry I am for your loss.

Prayers,
Shannon Travis Cunningham

My condolences to the Stevens family on the loss of your loved one. I met John through working at NCRJ and CRJ as their xray tech.
I always got a smile and a have a great day whenever I would see John at those facilities. He always had a sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke. He was a gentleman and I am sure he will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace and may you, his loved ones find peace in knowing he is in the hands of our Lord God. Bless you all, sincerely Melanie Ross, RT

I'm so sad to hear this news. John was my clinical supervisor at United Summit Center and he was always there for me to vent to, and I so appreciated his wisdom. I'm sad that the world has lost a good man but happy that heaven has gained such an angel.

I was a classmate and good friend of John's at Saint Peters and Fairmont Senior. He was one of the good guys then and thank the Lord, Mary Bonasso Shields called me and caught me up on the last 40 years and he did not disappoint. He is now where we are all trying to go, but too soon. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him!

He always had the most positive outlook and managed to see the best in other. He had one of the most disarming smiles one could ever wish for.......he will be sorely missed by everyone who happen to cross his path....thought and prayers are now....and always with his wife and family.
