Private John E. Stiles, 87, of Akron, OH passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020. He was born to parents John W. and Frances Stiles on July 12, 1933 in Franklin, Pennsylvania.

Preceding him in death is his brother, Ronald L. Stiles.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Donna (nee Miller) of 66 years; children, Donald Stiles, Barbara Massie (John), and Melissa Rico (Bryan);
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Mildred Stiles.

John was a proud United States Army Veteran having served in the Korean War in the 40th infantry division. On December 27, 1952 at the young age of 19 years old, John was shot 22 times from his knees up through his chest while defending our country. Private John Stiles has been a part of the VFW Post #3383 burial team for many years where he was also a post commander. He also ran the Standard Oil gas station for 35 years. More than anything, he was an amazing family man, who took care of everyone he knew and was just a good, all around guy. His wife Donna was his whole life, and everything he did in life was for her and his family. He was a courageous, honorable and loving man, who will truly be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, from 10am-12pm with a service at 12pm. He will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
