John Strauts Obituary
John, born on June 17, 1941, in Riga, Latvia, immigrated to the U.S. in December 1950 after losing his father in WWII. His mother, Anna, relocated the family to Loogootee, IL, and eventually to Chicago. In 1969, John married Linda Buttala, settling in Lake County and residing in Libertyville, IL, for the past 45 years. He built a life founded on hard work, integrity, fun, and a deep love for his family.
John, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam, retired in 2022 after a long career in the insurance industry. Renowned for his dedication and reliability, he quietly supported others' success. He cherished watching Chicago sports and spending time with his wife, two children, and six grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kind heart, strong work ethic, calm presence, and for the countless ways he showed his love through everyday actions. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Linda; two children, John (Becky) Strauts & Samantha and (Doug) Fleegle and by 6 grandchildren, Jackson, Anna, Jake, Emma, Charlie and Romy.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 17th at Center Church 858 Technology Way, Libertyville, IL. at 11am. All who know John are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Center Church in John's honor, or that you simply take a moment to do something kind for someone in need, as John often did.

Dear Lynn, John Jr., Sam and grandchildren: John was one of the kindness men and humans I knew. He was always great to me at work, we talked about his history, mother and life.
