Published by Legacy on Aug. 9, 2023.
John R. Strong was born in 1938 in Wayne Co. Mi., to Harry R. Strong and Arleene Osterhout Strong. He passed away on August 6, 2023.
He was the brother of Harry Strong, Paul Strong, Amy Strong Smith, and Ruth Ann Strong Brown.
As a young boy he learned the sport of fishing and spent his life enjoying that pastime.
John graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. He joined the United States Navy, spending those years on seaplanes.
He married Letha Kuiper and they spent half their married life in Portage, Mi.
They were blessed with three sons, John H. Strong, Anthony B. Strong and Robert Charles Strong.
John retired from the Kalamazoo Plug Co. and moved to Newaygo, Michigan, in 1994, finishing his lifetime near the Muskegon River. He was able to spend the last of his life fishing and sharing that bounty with others.
He was preceded in death, by his parents, his brothers Harry and Paul Strong and his son Robert C. Strong.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of John Strong. He made the incredible gift to me of manuscripts by the composer Wilhelm Middelschulte (1863-1943) who his mother studied with. I enjoyed our phone conversations and wish I had called him one last time. May he rest in peace.
