John Wesley Stutz, 79, died April 4, in Appleton, WI.  He was born in Dayton, Ohio to Sherla and Betty (Loffer) Stutz, September 16, 1943.  Following graduation from Miami University, he began his career at NCR/Appleton Papers.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Appleton, WI, for many years and was an early member of Christus Lutheran Church, Greenville, WI.  He served on the parish construction crew when the church was built.      After his 1998 retirement he volunteered as a confirmation mentor and as an usher at Christus, a tax preparer for VITA, and a carpenter with the Housing Partnership.  Other post-retirement activities included attending his grandchildren's sports, mostly baseball, and musical events and travel.  He became a skilled wood worker, producing beautiful furniture and accessories for family and friends.      John is survived by Sandra (Stump) Stutz, his wife of 58 years, his son Mark (Maury) and grandchildren Margo, Mason, and Marshall, his sister Mary (Mike) James, sisters-in-law Cheryl Coss and Patty Stump.    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife’s parents J. M. and June Stump, his brothers William and Paul, brothers-in-law Steve Stump, Stan Stump, Jerry Leffew, and Mark Coss, sisters-in-law Cindy Leffew and Cheryl Stutz.    A memorial service for John will be held Thursday, April 13, at 11 o’clock with visitation beginning at 9 o’clock at Christus Church, Greenville.  The service will be followed by a fellowship lunch.  Inurnment will take place this summer at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, Ohio.    For gestures of concern, please consider Paper Science and Engineering Foundation, Miami University, 64 Engineering Building, Oxford, OH 45056, Pillars, 605 East Hancock Street, Appleton, WI  54911, or Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.    John’s family thanks everyone at Cherry Meadows for John’s care and the kindness extended to us.
