John T. "Tom" Sutcliffe, 87, of Fishers, passed away at his residence on October 23, 2025. He was born in the year 1938, in Wisconsin, the son of Paul and Beula (Craig) Sutcliffe.
Tom graduated from high school in 1956, and earned a bachelor's of science degree from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in June of 1960. He worked at US Forest Mt. Baker in Washington and Columbia Falls in Montana.
Tom joined the U.S. Army in January of 1961, as a Private. He received direct commission to 2nd Lieutenant in June of 1962. He was then chosen to be the Aide de Camp to General Haneke in 1962. Tom graduated Airborne School as a paratrooper in March of 1963, and was honorably discharged from the US Army August of 1963. After his time in the military, he attended pharmacy school from 1964-1967 at Butler University and became a registered pharmacist in 1967. Tom married his wife, Lu, in August of 1967. Tom was first a pharmacist at Rosch Pharmacy then Pharmacy Manager at Gloveco, then in 1969 he starting working for Eli Lilly in pharmaceutical sales, where he was recognized in the top 2% of the USA Affiliate Sales and Marketing Team (The President's Council Lilly) in 1995, and retired in 1999.
Tom was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed outdoor activities: snow skiing, boating, fishing, hunting and reloading.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lucretia "Lu/Louie" (Carroll) Sutcliffe; two daughters, Amanda (Douglas) McClure and Michelle Chadwick Englund; and four grandchildren, Mick Chadwick, Zack Chadwick, Sydney McClure and Beckett Englund. Also, surviving is his sister, Carol (Frank) Worden; three nephews, Frank Worden, Mike Worden, and Lance Gayle; and two nieces, Laurie Gayle Garrison and Karen Gayle Mays.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, and two sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025, 10:00-11:00 am at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street Anderson, IN.
Services will follow visitation at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Klinger officiating.
Burial with military rites will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.
Refreshments and fellowship will take place immediately following the graveside service at The Community Room at Loose Funeral Homes.
