Graveside services for John Levi Swimmer, 91, of Vian, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at Box Cemetery in Vian with Dave Ritter officiating under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services.
Mr. Swimmer was born on Feb. 28, 1933, in Vian to Joseph Samuel Swimmer and Bessie Whittenburg (Buttery). He died on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, in Vian.
He was an honored Cherokee war veteran serving in the Korean War.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Virginia Swimmer; children, Johnny, Jeff, Sherry and Sonja; several grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and several siblings.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Swimmer, Steven Swimmer, Tanner Cooper, Cale Gillespie, Jalen Sequichie and Ryan Taylor.
Visitation is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel of Forever Memories Funeral Services.
