John Norman Tanski

John Norman Tanski, age 91, of Brigantine, NJ passed away peacefully on All Saints Day, Saturday, November 1, 2025, amongst the loving care of his family.

John is predeceased by his beloved spouse of nearly 64 years, Patricia Ann, and survived by their five children: Cathy McMullen (Sean), Michael Tanski, Janet Gilbert (John), Lisa Coates (Bob), Robert Tanski (Amelyn); grandchildren, Jacquelyn Dewechter (Patrick), Patti Meyers (Noah), Robert Gilbert, Danielle Coates (Christian), Patrick Gilbert, Sean Tanski, Anna Tanski; great-grandchildren, Adeleine Dewechter, Catherine Meyers, Pierce Dewechter, Francis Meyers. He is predeceased by his loving mother, Catherine Tansky, and in childhood, by his sister Claire, and by his great-grandson, Theodore Meyers.

John was born in Philadelphia, PA and resided there until recent years, when he moved to Brigantine to be close to his three daughters and their families.

John graduated Northeast High School in 1952 and shortly thereafter met his future bride, Patti. After marrying in 1956, he served in the United States Army from 1957 through 1959 with an honorable discharge, subsequently embarking on a long and productive career as a general draftsman, which was entirely compatible with his penchant for learning and reading and tinkering with gadgets and gizmos. He heartily enjoyed eating Polish food and, of course, Patti's delicious home cooking. Outside of work, he loved playing golf, chess, dominoes and card games – particularly pinochle, where he was often crowned "come-from-behind-John". Most of all, he immensely enjoyed the great family that he and Patti raised, with the apples of his eye being his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
