John Allen Thornton, age 43, of Morgan County passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026. John was born on November 17, 1982, and was a member of Graves Gap Baptist Church. John was a jack of all trades spending his time as a quiet person but had a funny streak that some people got to witness. He worked for Huling Electrical LLC. doing electrical work.

John is preceded in death by grandparents John and Nadine Braden and father-in-law Frank Lowe. John was survived by his wife of 15 years Missy Lowe Thornton of Wartburg, TN, son Tyler Kitts, parents Larry & Tina Thornton of Briceville, TN along with a brother Michael Thornton Sevierville, TN, a host of family and special friends Ronald Brown and Jeff Melton.

John is deeply loved and will be missed by all that knew him.

The family will Receive Friends on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 12:00 P.M. – 1:15 P.M. at Sharp Funeral Home, then go in procession to Graves Gap Baptist Church Cemetery for Graveside Service at 2:00 P.M. with Larry Thornton officiating.

John was one of the greatest men that I ever known. He was loved by everyone. He loved helping anyone he thought he could help. I'm glad I got to spend the short amount of time that I did with him. He made me look at a lot of things In life different.. my heart is breaking

I love you. John RIP
