John Thuer Obituary

John Albert Thuer (Jack) was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 26, 1942, to Albert Thuer and Lorraine Eisenbart. Jack attended Marion College and received a degree in Accounting. He later furthered his education at Indiana University. He became the CFO of Greiner Brothers, a mechanical contracting company. This is where he spent most of his professional career. He also owned Jalar, a property management company. He was a Boy Scout leader and guided his son, Matthew, through steps to achieve his Eagle Scout Badge. Jack was involved in civic activities in New Palestine, Indiana and served 2 years as the President of the Lions Club. After retirement, he and his wife Judy began to travel the world, visiting 32 different countries. They also made wonderful memories boating on the Ohio River. After moving to Venice, Florida, Jack and Judy became members of the Plantation Golf and Country Club. Twenty happy years were spent there making friends and playing golf. He served on the Board of the PMGA and eventually became President. He also served on the Board of the Plantation Community Foundation. Jack spent the last four years of his life living in downtown Sarasota. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Judy of 34 years, his brother Mark (Mary), and 3 children; Christopher (Sandy), Matthew (Christy), and Jennifer Addleman (Nathan). Jack is also survived by 2 sons of the heart, Jay Hoover and John Michael Hoover (Gabrielle) and 4 grandchildren. A daughter, Annamarie pre deceased her father in death. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 16th at 1:00 in Venice at the Plantation Golf and Country Club. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, the American Red Cross, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Tom and I have fond memories of working with Jack at Greiner Brothers. He taught me how to become a construction bookkeeper and I'll always treasure that. We also a lot of laughs and giggles along the way!
