In Loving Memory of Willie C. Posley

Our hearts are broken with profound sorrow as we announce the passing of our beloved Willie C. Posley, who departed on February 17, 2026, at his home in Harpers Ferry, WV, at the age of 79, surrounded by loved ones. Willie leaves behind a legacy of devotion, kindness and strength.

Born April 11, 1946 in Parkins, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Allen Posley and Blanch Wright Posley.

Willie was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and was baptized at Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis. He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School and attended Indiana University.

Willie served honorably in the U.S. Army starting August 19, 1963, with assignments in Germany, Korea, Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Ritchie, Maryland. He attended the National Cryptologic School, Fort Gordon, Georgia, the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, Maryland and many other training facilities. His service rolls included Crypto Repairman, Teletype Repairman, and Marksman (Rifle M-1). He was honorably discharged from the Army July 31, 1969.

Willie worked for the Department of Defense, Department of the Army, 1111th US Army Signal Battalion at Fort Ritchie, Maryland (Site R) for 47 years, retiring in August 2010. He began his career as Crypto Maintenance Repairman, Teletype Repairman, Chief Logistics Department, Electronic Technician and Communication Manager. He received numerous awards for his innovative designs and contributions to the maintenance and communication field.

Willie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was passionate about electronics, carpentry, and problem-solving. Known by his family as will C, Willie lived a quiet yet impactful life and shall be remembered for his brilliance, talent and deep care for family and friends. His presence commanded respect-when he spoke in front of a crowd or walked into a room, you could hear a pin drop.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Esstery Posley Smith, Hayland Posley Arnette, Anna Flora Posley Robertson, Walter Posley, Ollie James Posley, James Lee Posley, George Allen Posley, Otha Posley, Jerry Louis Posley (half-brother), Essie Posley Dickerson (half-sister).

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy Marie Posley, children, Catrina Maria Posley and Sean Christopher Posley, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ada Clara Perry and Julian Wiggins and numerous extended family members, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Willie will be remembered for his infectious smile, overwhelming laughter, and unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness. His spirit continues to inspire all who knew him. He taught Catrina and Sean to follow their dreams and be all they could be. As their mentor and friend, he loved his children no matter what happened and saw them through good times and bad. They dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them.

In Dorothy's words, "My heart is broken. My heart will always carry many of the memories we shared. He was my whole world, my best friend, a companion through decades. We shared laughter, cries, and had fun. We were always together, no matter where we went. Willie used to say to me, "Never forget that I love you. If I could give you one thing in life, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes. Only then would you realize how special you are to me." With Willie, I found hope and strength again, and again. His passing leaves a void that will stay with me for a long time. Yet I hold onto the hope that he has found peace. Rest in peace, my love. Thank you for everything! Farewell to a beautiful, brilliant man."

Services will be held on February, 26, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV, with Minister Yvonne Taylor officiating.
