John "Jack" Todd, 77, of Huntley, died on October 26 surrounded by family at Advocate Sherman hospital in Elgin. Jack was born December 16, 1946, in Urbana, IL. He was a Vietnam War veteran with the United States Army, served on the Huntley Village Board, and retired from the Dundee Township Park District after more than 30 years of service. After retirement, Jack lived in Melbourne, FL, for 17 years before returning to Huntley in 2022.
Jack was always quick to lend a hand to those in need, had a joke or story to lighten any situation, and made new friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl of 51 years; his children, Nate (Laura Beth) Todd, Kara (Zac) Todd, Ben (Kat) Todd, and Jen (Mike) Hawkinson; his grandchildren, Fletcher, Mo, Maia, Anika, Kal, Olivia, Jake, Jordan, and Joe; his great-granddaughter Lydia; and his sisters, Zola, Shirley, and Cathy. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Pauline Todd, and his sister, Norma Watson.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, November 8 from 4-9 pm at the American Legion in Huntley, IL at 11712 Coral St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a Veterans Organization of your choice.
