John Richard Tokarz, 61, devoted husband to Lisa and loving father to his children, passed away unexpectedly December 26, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, John was the only son among four children and grew up in the Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates, Illinois area.
While in high school, John met his future wife and lifelong love, Lisa, at the Sears store at Woodfield Mall. They both attended Bradley University, in Peoria, Illinois, with John graduating in 1986 with a degree in mechanical engineering. They married in September 1989 and resided in the Chicago area. In 1998, John and
Lisa moved to McKinney, Texas where John started a successful career in aeronautical sales. This year also marked the birth of their first child Taylor. John’s entrepreneurial drive led him and Lisa to establish their successful business, Landscape Technologies, and in 2002, Jack was born.
John was not only a devoted husband and father, but also a source of joy and laughter to everyone who knew him. His warmth and humor made every gathering unforgettable. Known as a “master entertainer” John turned his home into a hub of celebration – from legendary Halloween parties to lively summer gatherings, and the annual fantasy football draft. An avid sports fan, his love for the Chicago Bears was unmatched, and his garage, adorned with memorabilia and a bar-like setup, became the ultimate Sunday destination for cheering on “Da Bears.”
In addition to his devoted wife of 36 years, John is survived by his children, Taylor and Jack, and Ryan (Fewell), his brother-in-law Ed Havermann and wife Ann, of Justin, Texas, his siblings, Donna (Graham) and husband Scott, Dianne (Steinhoff) and husband Dennis, Debbie (Olson) and husband Bill, his parents, John and Barbara Tokarz, all of the Chicagoland area. He built lasting memories with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless lifelong friends.
