Passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, Saturday, September 6, 2025. Age 81. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia (Giacomi) Tonelli, his children John (Anita) Tonelli of Braidwood, IL., and Michelle (Paul) Jones of Palos Hills, IL., grandchildren Justin and Courtney Tonelli, Rachel Jones, his great-grandson Travis Tonelli, brother-in-law Don (Corinne) Giacomi and his aunt Rosemary Tonelli. Numerous cousins also survive. Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Constance Tonelli, his brothers Paul and Charles Tonelli. John graduated in 1964 from Joliet Township Central campus. He was a proud veteran serving in the United States Army earning two Bronze Stars for his time in Vietnam. After his time in the service John trained as a carpenter, joining Local #174 and worked his whole career for PT Ferro Construction Co. John was a big outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and ice fishing. Many happy memories were had in the duck blind. He also enjoyed spending time in his garden. John could build anything, he was a kind, giving and gentle man. His greatest love was his family and some of his happiest times was spent around the dinner table. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Wednesday, September 17th from 10 AM until time of services at 11.
