John H. Voss, age 88, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2025, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville. He was born October 18, 1936, in Breese, a son of the late August and Rose, nee Richter, Voss.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Chad Dempsey; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" (Don) Scott and Pat Meier; two brothers in infancy, Virgil Voss and Paul Voss; and a brother-in-law, Frank Dall.

John is survived by his children, John T. Voss of Carbondale, Kim Voss of Belleville, Charlie (Billie Jo) Voss of Lakeland, FL, Misty Dempsey of St. Louis; step-children, Cindy Russell of Belleville, Judy Dempsey of Carbondale, and Jeff Barton of Carbondale; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Ann (Antolin) Diaz of Mexico, Joann Dall of Aviston, and Ruth (Maurice) Eversgerd of Germantown; and nieces and nephews.

John was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard and a life-long dairy and grain farmer. He was a former member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese. He was a true family man who could fix anything and enjoyed helping his family.

Funeral Service will be Monday, August 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese. Interment will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Monday, August 4, 2025, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the family and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N 5 th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
