John Wade Obituary

John (Jack) Silas Wade, II

November 22, 1941 - January 18, 2026

John Silas Wade, II, lovingly known as Jack, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Frye Regional Medical Center following an unexpected decline in health. He was 84 years old and surrounded by family in love and faithful prayer.

A native of Roanoke, Virginia, Jack was the beloved husband of Linda Black Wade. Their marriage spanned 62 years, marked by deep devotion, partnership, and faith. Jack was a devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend who treasured time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, John Silas Wade, III, (Anne), and Sharon Wade Beaumont (Jesse); and grandchildren Laney Wade, Olivia Beaumont, Natalie Beaumont, Ethan List, and Emma List. He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Silas Wade and Aurelia Pedigo Wade.

Jack graduated from Virginia Tech in 1965 and proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Captain in the Civil Engineering Squadron. He enjoyed a successful career in furniture manufacturing and finance, retiring as Vice President of Finance for Hickory Chair Furniture Company. In later years, he volunteered with Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry.

Jack loved golf, travel, Virginia Tech athletics, and serving his community. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Lake Hickory and an active member of First United Methodist Church in Hickory.

A service celebrating Jack's life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Hickory. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m., followed by the service at 3 p.m. Arrangements are by Bass Smith Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry or First United Methodist Church of Hickory.

My sincere condolences to Jack's family and friends at his passing. I wish I could attemd the service, but travel is not my forte these days. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you never forget what a fine man Jack was, indeed, still is. My prayers are with you and my friend and coworker.
