John Wayne Walker

Mr. John Wayne Walker, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 8, 2025. John was born on September 29, 1951, in Jacksonville and spent much of his life serving as a Correctional Officer for the State of Florida.
John was known for his kind spirit and strong work ethic, traits that endeared him to his family, friends, and colleagues alike. He was a proud member of the Keystone Heights Christian Church, where he found joy in fellowship and community. John was also an avid Florida State football fan and a Disney Vacation Club Member, showcasing his love for both sports and family fun. Preceding him in death were his parents, John Henry Walker and Esther (English) Walker Sanders and his step father Horace Sanders.. He is survived by his sons, John Walker II of Keystone Heights, Richard Walker of Keystone Heights, his daughter, Christina (Scott) Wells of Starke, sister, JoAnn (Ed) Wall of Keystone Heights, brothers, Michael (Christine) Sanders of Melrose and William (Deena) Sanders of Gainesville. Also left are his grandchildren, Richard E. Walker, II, Tessa Walker Velez, Caterina Walker, Lorelai Walker, Connor Walker, Gabriel Wells and Lexie Wells along with his great grandson, Richard Eugene Walker, III.
A funeral service will be held in John's honor at DeWitt C. Jones Chapel of Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a public viewing starting at 10:30 AM. After the service. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Keystone Heights Christian Church, 3528 State Road 21, Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
