John R. Walker

John R. Walker, 72, passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2026, at his home. He was born July 18, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late John D. Walker and Mary V. Walker (Bunger).
John graduated from Brooklyn High School. He spent his working years in the labor force as a steel mill worker, subcontractor, Walmart, and on his farm. He finally retired eight years ago. On June 25, 1976, John married Linda Balog. They had three sons.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Walker (Balog); his sons, John Jr. (Jennie), Justin (Brittany), and Jeremy; and his grandchildren, Fayth (Carter), Troy, Jaden, Kailyn, Jaxson, Zayden, Jace, and Liam. He is also survived by all his loving animals.
John loved being a "Poppa." He would do anything for his grandchildren. He attended fairs, football games, and choir concerts. He would even take the time to teach the kids how to run the farm equipment. His true passion was to teach everyone, even strangers, how to raise livestock.
The community lost a husband, father, Poppa, and teacher. The family will be honoring John's wishes to be laid to rest on the family farm, where he lived and loved to be. A celebration of life will be held at Risley Agricultural Center, 5220 Root Road, Spencer, Ohio, 44275, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
