John F. Waller passed away on June 24th, 2025. Born on March 8th, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, IN, to parents Fred D. Waller and Helen M. Cole, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Myrna Cumbee, Janice, and Doug Waller. John proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1985, attaining the rank of E7 Master Sergeant. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including tours in Japan, two tours in Vietnam, and Korea, where he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. His unwavering commitment to his country was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
After his distinguished military service, John continued to serve his community as a mail handler with the United States Postal Service in Colorado Springs, where he worked for 18 years until his retirement in 2006. In retirement, John enjoyed working on cars and trucks and taking care of his home and yard. He was also an avid storyteller, particularly about his military service, and loved sharing his experiences and knowledge with friends and family.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Nancy, his children Aaron and Tara, his grandchildren Daisy and Josie, his brother Steve and wife Teresa Waller, nephew Tony and wife Jill Cumbee, and multiple nieces and nephews. His legacy of service, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
