John Jay Walters Jr., of Waterville, OH, passed away on May 20, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on August 10, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA to John and Thelma Walters Sr., he lived a life rich with experiences and touched the hearts of many.
John devoted an impressive 37 years of his life to Toledo Edison, where he served as a steadfast security guard. His commitment to ensuring the safety of others was unwavering, and his friendly demeanor made him a familiar face to all who worked alongside him.
Beyond his professional life, John found solace in the simple pleasures of existence. He enjoyed his morning breakfast and conversation at Chick-fil-a with his wife, Rachel. He loved taking leisurely walks with his loyal dog, Mocha, appreciating the changing seasons and the beauty of nature. As a talented photographer, he immortalized these moments, capturing the essence of parks, countryside, and serene landscapes. His work even graced the pages of a magazine, inspiring others to see the world through his lens.
John's creativity extended beyond photography. He meticulously crafted model naval ships, each one a testament to his patience and attention to detail. Whether assembling tiny rigging or painting miniature hulls, he poured his heart into these intricate creations.
As a grandfather, John reveled in the joy of playing with his grandchildren. His legacy lives on in the memories they hold dear.
John proudly served in the United States Navy, embarking on a journey that took him around the globe. His experiences shaped him and broadened his perspective.
John's passion for golf was evident to all who knew him. He achieved both an eagle and a hole-in-one-a remarkable feat that brought him immense pride. An avid fan of Penn State football, John cheered passionately for his team. Whether in victory or defeat, his loyalty remained unwavering.
John is survived by his wife, Rachel; daughter, Angela (Jonathan) Leach; grandchildren, Nicole Wawrzyniak, Alexandria (Andrew) Hartman, Isabella Leach, Evan Leach, Tressel Leach, and Emma Leach. He was preceded in death by sons, James McNally and Gregory McNally; parents; sisters, Wendy and Maryann; and canine companion, Mocha.
