John Lee Wathen, 62, Mt. Eden, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Baptist Health Louisville. A native of Louisville, he was the son of the late John "Jay" S. Wathen and Edith R. Hornung Wathen. He worked many years for InTown Suites in hotel maintenance and most recently was a pizza maker at Bearno's Pizza. In his leisure time, he enjoyed loud music, fishing and spending time with his family. He was Catholic by faith. In addition to his parents, one brother, Billy Wathen, preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 15 years, Robin Hayes Wathen of Mt. Eden; his five children, Tara Fields (Ricky), Brandon Wathen and John Wathen, Jr., all of Louisville, Nicole Sams (Robert) of Mt. Eden and Heather Hess (Timmy) of Shelbyville; his sister, Patricia "Patsy" Works of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Maddy Pierce, Kyler Wathen, Ky'Ann Wathen, Keyth Wathen, Makayla Whobrey, Keven Hess and Allie Hess; one great-grandson, Alexander Hess and his faithful canine companion, Huey, the Fat Dog. Cremation has been selected. A gathering of family and friends will be held 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Webb Funeral Home. The cremated remains will be privately interred later. In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with the final expenses are requested to be made directly to the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Webb Funeral Home.
