John "Jack" Weigel (1938-2011) CEDAR FALLS- John "Jack" Weigel, 73, of Cedar Falls died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo. He was born January 18, 1938 in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of Irwin and Nellie (Fitzgerald) Weigel. He married Doris Kriener on April 18, 1959 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas, Iowa. He graduated from New Hampton High School and received his airline training from Gale Institute, Minneapolis. He was employed by American Airlines in Chicago, Ozark Airlines in Mason City and Fort Dodge, and transferred to the Waterloo Airport in 1961. With the Ozark/TWA merger, he transferred to the Cedar Rapids Airport and Des Moines International Airport, retiring in 1999 after 40 years of service. He worked part-time at Dan Deery Motors from January 2000 to January 2010. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and the Sons of AMVETS Post 49, Cedar Falls. Survivors include his wife, Doris; two sons, Randall (Kimberly) Weigel of Southlake, TX and Greg (Kelly) Weigel of Oakland, CA; two daughters, Lori (David) Ceilley of Ft. Myers, FL and Lisa (Kevin) Brandt of Billings, MT; eleven grandchildren: Karly, Ryan, Cheylee, and Royce Weigel, Connor and Savanah Ceilley, Jonathon and Lauren Brandt, Lily, Lane and Casey Jean Weigel; three brothers, William (Marlene) and Russell of New Hampton, IA and James (Sharon) of Charles City, IA; brother-in-law, Ray Schwickerath of Fredericksburg, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by three sisters, Vivian Heiselman, Virginia Schwickerath and Marie Schwickerath; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Heiselman, Vincent Schwickerath, Henry Kriener, Glen Klimesh and Jerome Imoehl. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with inurnment at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Richardson Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. Vigil service. Visitation also for one hour prior to Mass Wednesday at the church. A memorial will be established at a later date in his honor. His family, friends and neighbors will always remember his kindness, sincerity, and concern for others throughout his life.
