John Robert Wren

John Robert Wren, age 88, (who always promised he was going to make 90), passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
John was born on February 17, 1936, in the borough of West Reading, Berks County, PA. He was a mechanical engineer who owned Metro World Wide/A1 Crawler Cranes Parts, and until his death never did retire. His company manufactured crane booms and rebuilt Bucyrus Erie crawler cranes.
On April 11, 1981, he married his wife Dianne Gouthier Grizzel, who survives him. Also surviving is their blended family of his children, Victoria Belle (John) Anderson, of The Woodlands, TX, Pamela Ann (Byron) Aber, of Venice, FL, and John Robert Wren, Jr., of Lexington, SC; along with Dianne' s children, Lawrence Scott Grizzel, of Akron, OH, and Stacy Renee (Dan) Phillips of Vanderbilt, MI. Further survivors to cherish his memory are his siblings, Betty Jane Schuette, Ruth Ann Wren, and Timothy Wren; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edwinna; and his sister, Mary Ellen.
John was the first Master Aviator in the Ohio National Guard, where he served his country for 28 years. He loved flying helicopters, both real and remote. He was always working, taking things apart and fixing them. He loved nature and his John Deere tractors. He loved spending time with his family, who will miss him immensely.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring at Great Lakes National Cemetery, with full military honors.
