John Allen Youngblood, 60, of North Richland Hills, TX, formerly of Shreveport, LA, completed his earthly journey, and took the hand of Jesus to go home on Saturday, September 16, 2023, following a courageous battle with bone cancer. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Interment will take place in Forest Park West Cemetery immediately following the service. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Stephen Wright.

John was born on December 26, 1962 in Shreveport to John B. and Edith R. Youngblood. He attended Southwood High School and played the alto saxophone in the marching band. John was a Christian and was raised in the Assemblies of God. During his working years, he worked as a waiter for various restaurants, American Airlines reservation specialist, Sprint, and Aetna insurance before becoming disabled. John was multitalented in so many ways, including gardening, landscaping, interior decorating, floral design, and cooking. He enjoyed traveling, all genres of music, going to musicals and plays, reading and learning about diverse cultures, and following politics.

John was a bright light in this dark world, and he shared this light and love with everyone with whom he came into contact. He loved unconditionally and with his whole heart. He was always considerate and put others before himself. John’s family was the most important thing to him. Family to John encompassed those who were relatives and those who were friends whom he chose to be family. He loved to host or attend family events or just sit and visit with a loved one. John had the incredible ability to make anyone feel like they were loved and when he spoke to them, they felt as though they were the only important person in the room. He will be greatly missed by all who have been touched by his love and light.

John was reunited at the gates of Heaven with his parents, John B. and Inez Youngblood, Edith R. Youngblood; sister, Carolyn Youngblood Purdy; brother, Johnny Ray Youngblood; grandparents, Daniel Youngblood, Cora Bell Goss; fur babies, Fantara Lucille, Buster, and Lucy, as well as many loved ones and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Pat Trammel (Roy) of Prairieville, LA, Sue McKinney (Barry) of Fort Worth, TX, Nila Diane Savage-Brackett (Scott) of Elkhorn, NE; nieces and nephews, Dayton Plunkett (Shannon) of Big Sandy, TX, Robbie Trammell (Pennle) of Prairieville, LA, Jason Bohannon (Romy) of Seattle, WA, Jeri Lynn Adams (Fernando DelaRosa) of Ft. Worth, TX, Dustin Nunley (Jessica) of Dallas, TX, Sheree Savage of Elkhorn, NE, Austin Savage of Columbia, TN; special aunt, Effie Floyd of Columbia, LA; uncle, James Rutherford; brother of choice, Stephen Wright (Jennifer) of Ketchikan, AK, and fur baby, Bella. Also, left to carry on his legacy of love are numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and other loving family members.

John was a dog lover. His dogs were his children, and if he were able to adopt every one of them that needed a home, he would. Memorial donations may be made to Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Dr., Carrollton, TX 75006, or to the charity of your choice.
