John A. Yurko, 82, of Perryopolis, Jefferson Twp., formerly of West Mifflin, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025 at VA Hospital, Oakland, Pittsburgh. Born August 6, 1942 in West Mifflin, he was the son of the late John M. and Julia Ruth Getsy Yurko. A resident of Jefferson Twp. for the past 25 years, Mr. Yurko was Catholic by faith and was retired from Wean United Engineering, where he worked as an Engineer. John was a veteran of Vietnam Era where he served in the US Marine Corps. He was a social member of Perryopolis VFW Gold Star Post 7023, Star Junction Rod & Gun Club, and Perryopolis Senior Center. He enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with his family, sitting outside at the pool, and loved going to Randall's.
He is survived by his son & daughter in law Jeff & Ginger Ely of Perryopolis, brother & sister-in-law Robert P. & Sandy Yurko of West Homestead, grandchildren Jacob & Tina Ely, Laken Ballenger, great grandchildren Landon, Devin, & Scarlett Ely. He is preceded in death by his wife Carol Steavens Yurko, two brothers Rev. Paul E. Yurko, Bernard Yurko, sister Julie Ann Mayor, and grandson Devin Ely.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515. Funeral services will be held Friday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC at 10:00 AM with the Pastor Michael Hough of Christian Center officiating. Interment will take place in Acklin Cemetery.
