John Zamora Obituary

Published by Forest Lawn - Cathedral City on Mar. 18, 2016.
John Joseph Zamora, affectionally known as JZ, of La Quinta, California, took the hand of an angel on March 17, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Los Angeles on August 24, 1946, son of Joe and Josie Zamora. He was raised in Monterey Park and graduated from Mark Keppel High School in 1964. He also attended Pasadena City College, East LA Jr. College, Trade Tech, and Cal State LA. John married Linda L. Syverud on July 31, 1971 at the San Gabriel Mission Church. He and his wife lived in Rowland Heights, Hacienda Heights and Anaheim Hills before finally settling in La Quinta in 2007.John's entire professional life was spent in the commercial printing business. He began his printing career in 1966 and ultimately fulfilled his lifetime dream of owning his own printing company, Graphic Press in 2000. John is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda: son Brian and his wife Annie and their daughters, June and Faye; son Brad and his wife Angie and their sons, Jack and Max; his daughter Cara Riggs and her husband Kris and their sons, Clayton, Chase and Kipton; his sister Marie Brush and her husband David and his nephews, Jeff, John, and Ron and his niece, Jennette Boulware and their extended families. John was always one to live life to the fullest. He extended his hand in friendship and generosity to everyone he knew and met. Over the years, John spent his free time deep sea fishing, boating, water and jet skiing, playing golf and going to the horse races. He especially loved his thoroughbred horse ranch, JZ Stock Farm in Temecula, California. His biggest thrill was when he was in the winners circle! Many memories were also made on family and friend vacations, and as the years progressed, his grandchildren brought him great joy!! A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 47-225 Washington Street, La Quinta, CA. 92253. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately after the Mass at Moutain View Country Club, 80375 Pomelo Sy., La Quinta, CA. In lieu of flowers, John has requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. http://tributes.com/John-Joseph-Zamora

For some reason John came to mind tonight. I knew of his passing when it happened through Skip, (his barber and old friend). I used to work with Skip for 13 years and always enjoyed seeing John when he came in for his monthly or so haircut. Super nice guy and waaaaay too young to die. He had so much life in him and always looked waaay younger than he was. Losing someone like John must have been so hard on the family. Peace be with all of them. I know it's even harder the more that time goes by. Life is precious and everyone needs to know this because you just never know when it's your time.
Always..... Debbie White (aka...Skipette)

I was laying in bed this morning thinking and John popped into my head. I hadn't seen him in years so I decided to Google him to see what he was up to these days and then be shocked to learn of John's passing. I used to work with John for many years in the printing business. He was a great guy and a good friend. I am sure he will be missed very much by all of his friends and family. He had a huge heart and always had a significant impact on everyone and everything he touched. No one was insignificant in his eyes, he always made time for everyone. John, I know you are in a much better place with our Creator and that you are smiling down on all of us! May you always rest in peace, my friend.......

JZ was a kind and generous friend who was always willing to help anyone in need. I truly enjoyed the times that we spent together and am very grateful for the encouraging words of advice that he always gave me. He's a friend that will be missed by many. Rest in peace, JZ.
