John Zapcic Obituary
John enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII. His naval career continued through the Korean Conflict and the brink of Vietnam. After retiring from the Navy is 1962, he continued his service to his country at the New Cumberland Army Depot until his retirement in 1987.
John will be missed by all that knew him for his kind, gentle nature. Fair winds and following seas.
He is survived by three children. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ada, in 1990, his second wife, Peggy (Hoover), in 2019, two children, and an infant brother.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078, with Rev. David Kreider officiating. Family and friends are invited for a viewing from 10am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

A sailor from the greatest generation has passed away today. John, you are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The carrier has turned into the wind preparing for your final departure. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate.
