Johnathan Whygles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by West Funeral Home - Carlsbad on Jan. 24, 2026.
It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Johnathon Whygles , known and loved by many as Big John, on January 23, 2026.

His absence has left an ache and an emptiness in our lives that is hard to put into words. Our family is grieving this incredible loss. Please know that every expression of love, memory, and support is deeply appreciated. In leiu of flowers, we ask donations be made directly to the funeral home.

Thank you for holding Jonathan and our family in your hearts.

Jonathan Whygles passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2026, at Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was 35 years old.

Known to many as "Big John," Jonathan was a kind and gentle giant. His brother captured Jonathan's spirit best:
"Jonathan was an innocent soul and lit up the room with his presence. Every smile, laugh, and conversation we shared is what I have to remember you by. I love you, John. You were the best older brother anyone could ask for."
Jonathan's sudden passing has left a profound emptiness and a hole in the lives of those who loved him. His absence is felt deeply-in the quiet moments, the memories, and the future that now looks different without him in it.

Jonathan is survived by his mother, Belinda Ramos-Whygles; his brother and sister-in-law, Cody and Lei Whygles; his nephew, Lance Whygles; his niece, Athena Whygles; his second grandmother, Juanita Whygles; and his aunts and uncles Sonny Martinez, Donald Martinez, Valerie Martinez, Rose Bulger, and Jessica Whygles. He is also survived by his cousins Justin Wood, Marshal Wood, Nathan Bulger, Ashley Martinez, Gary Italiano, and Joseph Italiano.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph Whygles; his grandmother, Beverly Whygles; his great-grandparents, Albert Hammond and Addaline Hammond; and his step-aunt, Bonnie Corrales.

Jonathan will be remembered as a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. He is deeply loved and will be forever missed.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on February 3, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
