Daniel V. Dorado passed away at his family home in Carlsbad, New Mexico, surrounded by loved ones on January 30, 2026. A visitation will take place from 1p.m.-6p.m. on Thursday at the West Funeral Home Chapel. On Friday, February 6, 2026, a rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m.at San Jose Catholic Church, the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Carlsbad Cemetery (New Section)

A Carlsbad native, Daniel was born to Vivian Villalpando and Reyes Dorado on September 13, 1942. He grew up in a large family; his childhood home filled with the rustle and bustle of 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Daniel was a member of the Carlsbad High school graduating class of 1962. After high school he worked as a truck driver for a multitude of companies including Amax, Mississippi, and Intrepid. He was a devout catholic, attending the San Jose Catholic church for many years. Daniel Dorado married his wife, Amelia Ernestina Flores Dorado on December 14, 1964. The couple spent 61 years of marriage together, having two daughters, Felicia Hinojosa of Albuquerque and Marissa Dorado of Carlsbad, as well as two sons, Daniel Dorado Jr. of San Antonio and Edward Flores of California. Their family continued to grow as they welcomed 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren into their lives.

Daniel is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Dorado of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Joe Munoz of Bakersfield, California, Frank Dorado of Austin, Felix Dorado of Carlsbad, Able Munoz of Bakersfield, Reyes Dorado of Carlsbad and Frances Samora of Albuquerque.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Amelia Ernestina Flores Dorado, his daughters Felicia Hinojosa, Marissa Dorado, his sons, Daniel Dorado Jr, Edward Flores, his brothers, Sammy Dorado of Carlsbad, Barney Dorado of Carlsbad, Johnny Dorado of Carlsbad, Antonio Munoz of San Antonio, his sisters, Victoria Macias of Carlsbad, and Veronica Hernandez, as well as their 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
