Ms. Johnnie "Mae" McIntosh Hanner, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 14, 2025, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, North Carolina. She was born on October 13, 1952, to the late Fred Thomas McIntosh Sr. and Irene Palmer McIntosh, and from an early age grew into a woman known for her warmth, generosity, and enduring love for her family.

Mae received her early education at J.S. Waters School and graduated from Chatham Central High School in 1970. Soon after, she married the love of her life, Mr. Myron Unton Hanner, with whom she shared a devoted and joyful union until his passing. From this marriage, three daughters were born: Marian Hanner Gordon (Louries) of Burlington, NC; Annise Marie Alston (Michael) of Asheboro, NC; and Nicole Michelle Hanner (Jermaine) of Siler City, NC. They were her pride, her purpose, and the center of her world.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Ms. Johnnie Mae was a lifelong member of Thompson Chapel Church, which she joined as a young child. She loved her church family dearly and carried her faith with her in the way she treated others-with compassion, humility, and unwavering kindness.

She was a dedicated homemaker who found joy in simple but meaningful pleasures. Mae especially loved watching Christmas movies on Lifetime, often with a bowl of her favorite cheddar cheese popcorn and an ice-cold Pepsi by her side. She enjoyed long phone conversations with relatives, writing thoughtfully in her journal, and giving freely from her heart. She had a special gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved.

Ms. Hanner was preceded in death by her father, Fred Thomas McIntosh Sr.; her mother, Irene Palmer McIntosh; her sister, Ms. Jessie Lee McIntosh; and her brother, Fred Thomas McIntosh Jr.

Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her loving siblings: Ms. Doris Jean Jones (Herman) of Youngsville, NC; Ms. Deann Marsh (Daniel) of Goldston, NC; and Mr. John Robert McIntosh (Lorraine) of Goldston, NC. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Johnnie "Mae" McIntosh Hanner lived a life marked by love, laughter, generosity, and faith. Her legacy shines brightly through the countless lives she touched, and her memory will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
