Roger Weems Hanner

Roger Weems Hanner, 84, passed away at his home on January 9, 2026. Born in 1941, he was a true self-made man who forged his own path. With only a high school diploma he worked his way up through the ranks to end his career in electronics as president and CEO of Whitesburg Electronics. Throughout the 60s and 70s, he was involved in space mssions and was commended by the Department of the Army for his work. He was respected and admired by all who knew him for his integrity and strong work ethic.

As accomplished as he was in his career, his legacy is how he cared for and loved his family. He was kind, generous, and considerate to everyone he met and was a tremendous example and role model for us to follow. His humor, sweet disposition, and thoughtful consideration of others made a huge impact on all of us. He was truly one of one. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Janice Evers Hanner, his children Steve Hanner(Beth) and Denitta Hinkle(Andy,)

his grandsons Zach Hanner(Amilyn), Nathan Hanner(Rebecca), Ben Hinkle(Lindsay), his great grandchildren Madalyn Bell(Tristan), Aubri Rains(Easton), Ty Hanner, Owen Saint, and Samuel S. Hinkle. He is also survived by his sister Sharon Robinson(Mickey) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dad and mom, W.O. and Nannie Mae Hanners, his two brothers Max Hanners and Joe Hanners, and his grandson Samuel C. Hinkle.
