Johnnie Frank Mancil Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 29th, 2023, at the age of 85. at his home in Olalla, WA, where he lived with his wife, eldest daughter, grandson, granddaughter-in-law, and three great-grandchildren. He was born on November 12th, 1937, in Greenville, AL.

Johnnie is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy McClure Mancil, his daughters Scarlet Mancil and Gale (Thomas) Phillips, six grandchildren, Jason Mancil, David Phillips, Kale Phillips, Grace Elliott, Dafney Allen, and Johnny "Frank" Mancil III, 17 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Sarah (Richard) Wright, and Minne (Tom) Gwinn.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Dickens Mancil and father, Charlie S. Mancil, his son, Johnny F. Mancil Jr., his two brothers, Wayne Mancil and Kenneth Mancil, and a sister, Alice Deakle.

Johnnie served his country with distinction, spending three years on active duty in the US Army and 17 years in the Army reserves. Just before joining the Army, he married the love of his life, Dorothy on October 27th, 1955. The two of them met working at a Drive-in theater. He passed two days after their 68th anniversary. During his time in the reserves, Johnnie worked as a firefighter and general carpenter, dedicating his life to his family. After his military service he was a start-up engineer for various companies that sent him all over the world, including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Papua New Guinea.

Johnnie will be remembered for his woodworking, and generous spirit. He always opened his home to anyone that needed respite in times of trouble, and he spent his last year making handmade toys. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens at 12pm on Wednesday, November 15th, followed by a funeral service at 2pm. A reception will be held after the graveside services at the ABBA temple in Mobile from 4-7p.m.
