She was a member of First Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her church.
Johnnie retired from Cocke County Baptist Hospital after years of Service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred "Buzzo" Ownby; parents, George Wasington and Pearl Carter; sisters, Iva Ruth Jones, Imogene Tipton, Mildred Holt and Marjorie Wix.
She is survived by her daughter, Gina (Kevin) Roberts of Newport; brother, James Carter of Madisonville, TN; sisters, Georgia Hendrix of Cleveland, TN; nieces and nephews, Shirley Williams, George Tipton, Bobby Jones, Mike Hendrix, Joe Hendrix, Jeff Carter and Eddie Carter; and special beloved cousin, Illa Ruth Mc Millian.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Union Cemetery with Dr. Rich Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Newport Building Fund.
Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com.
