Johnnie Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DW Brooks Funeral Home on Jan. 28, 2026.
Johnnie Bee Wright Jr., known affectionately as John to his family and friends, was called to his eternal home on January 24, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on September 15, 1962, in Fort Carson, Colorado, John was a beam of light in the lives of those who knew him, spreading laughter, warmth and love effortlessly throughout his 63 years.

John's early life in Rosebud, TX and Big Spring, TX was the foundation of his strong character, but it was in Austin, TX where he truly made his mark. After receiving his GED in 1981, he dedicated many years of service to the City of Austin. As a skilled construction forklift driver, John was not only an expert in maneuvering heavy-duty equipment, but he also became the backbone of numerous projects, contributing to the development and infrastructure of the community he loved.

John's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his existence. His beliefs were reflected in his actions, always guided by the principles of love, generosity, and commitment. He was a man who cherished his family above all else, and his devotion was evident in the close-knit relationships he maintained with his family members.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, including his adoring daughter, Jasmine Wright of Auburn, KS. John's memory will also be treasured by his mother, Kathlyn Meeks of Killeen, TX; his sisters, Brandi Scott Singleton of Frisco, TX, Benita Wright of Irving, TX, and Arletha Brown of Dallas, TX; his brothers, Charles Wright of Everett, WA, Jeffery Wright of Killeen, TX, and Timothy Scott of Ft. Worth, TX. His father, Johnnie Bee Scott, predeceased him. The joy of his later years was his grandchildren, Juliette and Jose Rivera, and his great-grandchild. His nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends will also feel the absence of his generous spirit.

John's interests reflected his enthusiasm for life. He possessed a boisterous spirit and relished the times spent with friends watching football. His laughter and cheers could light up a room, and his presence made every game an unforgettable event. John was also a handy man, always ready to lend his skills wherever they were needed, embodying the very essence of generosity and support.

As we gather to celebrate John's life, we remember a man who was the embodiment of the words loyal, loving, and honorable. His life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his family and friends. John's journey on earth may have concluded, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, resting in the arms of our Lord.

John's life will be commemorated in a service that will honor the joy he brought into our lives, the wisdom he shared, and the unwavering faith he lived by. As we say goodbye to this exceptional man, we hold tight to the memories he gave us, the lessons he taught us, and the love he showed us, which will continue to guide and inspire us all. Johnnie Bee Wright Jr. will be deeply missed, but his legacy will forever be cherished.
