Johnny Amaro of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father and papa passed away surrounded by his family on January 10, 2026 at the age of 65 years. Johnny was born on November 18, 1960 in West Palm Beach, FL. He retired in 2012 from Bierlein Construction after many years of service. He married Alicia Barsenas on August 5, 1995; she survives him. Johnny was a member of St. Francis of Assisi. He loved being outdoors: fishing, camping, hunting, biking, Budweiser, and most especially enjoyed the company of his friends and family.
Surviving besides his wife Alicia, are his children: Jessica Barsenas, Erica Amaro-Barsenas, special son Joseph Zapata, his grandchildren whom he lovingly gave pet names: Destiny “Destiner”, Jasmine “Mun”, Nevaeh “Rose”, Elena “Chunky-Monkey”, Ellia “Sue-Sue”, Cyprian “Little Guey”, Angel “Girl”, Vincent, his mother Alberta (Hernandez) Amaro and 10 siblings, including special baby brothers Hipolito Amaro, Rueben Amaro, Joseph Amaro, his special in-laws: Connie Barsenas, Joaquina Barsenas, Mark Perry, his camping buddies and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including his godchildren: Jesse Aguire, Jr., Christopher Perry, David Garcia, Juanita Amaro-Cruz, Meera Herandez, Cassandra Amaro. Besides his father, Emilio, Johnny was predeceased by his father-in-law Cyprian Barsenas.
Funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3680 S. Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Rev. Fr. John Mancini, OSFS will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. and on Wednesday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
