Johnny Grant "John" Corl

Johnny "John" Grant Corl, 62, of Gold Hill, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026 at his sister's residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 29, 1963 in Salisbury, NC to John Grady Corl, Jr. and Rachel Hoffman Corl. John worked as an auto mechanic for over 40 years, specializing in transmissions and rear ends. He was happiest with his hands busy, taking things apart and putting them back together again. Known for his compassion and gentle spirit, John was always willing to help anyone without expecting anything in return. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and hunting, but above all, he treasured time spent with his family.

Mr. Corl was preceded in death by his father, John Grady Corl, Jr. and sister, April Smith.

In addition to his mother, Rachel Hoffman Corl, John is survived by his sisters, Teresa Corl and Paul Davis; son; Chad Corl; three daughters, Michelle Corl, Macey Johnson and Misty Corl; 12 grandchildren, Austin Taylor, Ava Corl, Keighly Martin, Alex Head, Shawn Head, Daniel Head, Ryan Johnson, Race Johnson, Logan Martin, Colton Martin, Kady Martin, Emma Martin; one great-grandchild, Oakley Corl; three nephews, Grant Davis, Trevor Davis and Jeremy Eagle; two nieces, Crystal Eagle and Alisha Eagle.

A celebration of John's life will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Freedom Christian Worship Center of Rockwell (607 E. China Grove Hwy, Rockwell, NC).
