Johnny William Elmore, Sr., age 74, of 1349 Leadmine Road, Gaffney, passed away Thursday, August 8, in his home.
Husband of Dolly Whittenburg Elmore, he was born in Cherokee County, SC and was a son of the late John W. Elmore and Almaree Weathers Elmore.
Johnny was a 1968 graduate of Granard High School. He obtained a B.A. Degree at Limestone College. He was a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service. He worked in Gaffney and also in Cowpens where he was Post Master. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and later served in the Army National Guard.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Dolly, of the home Pastor Dolly Elmore, son Johnny W. Elmore, Jr. of the home, daughters, Darlene (Cicero) Seaberry, of Douglasville, GA and Earlene (Sammy)
Huskey, of Gaffney, SC; brothers, Donald Lee Huskey, of Bethlehem, GA, Lancaster (Julia) Elmore, of Gaffney, SC, Alfonso Elmore, of Gaffney, GA, Robert Lee (Deborah) Elmore, of Enoree, SC, Bucoe (Beverly) Elmore, of Gastonia, NC; sisters, Shirley (Chris) Littlejohn, of Gaffney, SC; Valena Tinney, of Atlanta, GA; Uncle Fred Littlejohn, of Washington, DC; brothers-inlaw, Henry (Carrie) George, of Gaffney, SC; Bishop Adell (EnoAbasi) Whittenburg, of Pass Christian, MS; Rev. Dewey (Mary) Whittenburg; sisters-in-law Deborah Askew, of Aliquippa, PA; Katie Whittenburg, of Arlington, VA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024, 2:00 p.m., in Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Adell Whittenburg and The Reverend C.A. Wallace. Interment will be Private.

Johnny hired me at the Union PO. He was a great man to work for. I thought a lot of Johnny. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to Mrs Dolly and all of the family.
