Johnny Freeman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Welch Funeral Home on Feb. 22, 2025.
Johnny C Freeman, known affectionately as Johnny to all who knew him, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with long-term health issues. He was born on September 20, 1942, in Henderson, Texas, where he also drew his last breath, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and an abundance of love for his family and community.
Johnny was a proud graduate of Longview High School, class of 1960, whose work ethic and sense of duty were evident from an early age. His commitment to his country was demonstrated through his honorable service in the Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he established a successful career as the owner and operator of Freeman Asphalt & Paving, a business that not only built roads but also bridges between the many lives he touched through his work until his well-deserved retirement.
Beyond his professional achievements, Johnny's true passions lay in the simple pleasures of life. He found joy in the outdoors, whether he was landscaping, brush hogging pastures, or skillfully operating heavy machinery. His love for working with cattle was not just a hobby but a reflection of his connection to the land and the home he so cherished.
Johnny's generosity knew no bounds, especially when it came to helping his neighbors. His kindness and willingness to lend a hand were as steady as the Texas ground he walked on. He was a cornerstone of the community, someone who believed in the value of hard work and the importance of giving back.
Family was the cornerstone of Johnny's world. He is survived by his three daughters, Tracy, Mary, and Sally, who will forever cherish the lessons and love their father imparted upon them. His grandsons, Dylan, Carson, Logan, Hayden, and Dalton, will miss the adventures and wisdom shared during the precious time spent with their grandfather. Johnny also leaves behind his sisters, Joy, Dot, Peggy, and Sandra, whose bond was forged in love and shared memories that will continue to provide comfort and strength in the days to come.
Johnny's life was a testament to the values he held dear - integrity, commitment, and most of all, love for his family. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best. He has left an indelible mark on this world, and his memory will be treasured as a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Johnny C Freeman's story is not one of an end but of a life well-lived and well-loved, a narrative of a man who built a legacy as enduring as the roads he paved.
