On September 8, 1956, she married Edward Earl “Ted” Leach in McAlester, Oklahoma. They shared 52 years of marriage before his passing on September 17, 2008. In 1971, Maudie and Ted made their home in Carthage after relocating from Mount Pleasant, Texas.

A woman of strong faith, Maudie was a longtime and devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Carthage. She faithfully served her church community as parish administrator for many years and was actively involved in St. Ann’s Guild and served on the Bishop’s Committee.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Georgia Lou Battles; her brothers, Billy Davis and Earl Davis; a son-in-law, Tommy Smith; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Leach.
