Johnny W. Haley

Johnny William Haley of Nashville, TN, passed away on August 20th, 2022, at the age of 80. After several days of declining health, John died peacefully with his close family by his side.
John was born in Nashville on September 30, 1941, to his late parents James Haley and Mildred Haley. He lived with his mother, his three brothers, Bill Wedekind, Jack Wedekind, and Joe Wedekind, and late sister Ardena Haley. He graduated from Litton High school in 1959, where he met his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Julie Tune Haley. At the age of 33, he started his own telecommunications company, Southeastern Telecom in 1974. In his free time, John had many hobbies. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and listening to his favorite music, Elvis, Rod Stewart, and Willie Nelson. Exercise and fellowship at the Green Hills YMCA was a major highlight of his days. He never met a stranger and once you met John, he immediately had a nickname for you. Some of his favorite local spots include: Pizza Perfect, Whole Foods, and the Corner Pub. John was a member of West End Community church, where he felt loved and accepted. He is known by all for his love of helping people and bringing them together.
Family meant everything to John. He continuously talked about Julie, his two daughters, and his four grandchildren. Every single day Dad or Pop told his girls how much he loved them and was proud of them. To his grandkids Grandaddy was described as selfless, encouraging, hard-working, affectionate, and fun. He was their hero. John s family is proud of him and can rest easy knowing he is with Jesus at peace.
John is survived by his wife Julie Tune Haley; daughter Michelle Haley Finley (Lyle Finley); daughter, Brittany Haley Lipscomb; grandchildren John Gregory Lipscomb, Jackson Haley Lipscomb, Michael Guy Lipscomb, and Julia Hope Lipscomb.
John was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
A graveside service for John is planned for Thursday, August 25th, 2022, at 11 am. The service will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Green Hills YMCA.
