Johnny Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A Natural State Funeral Service & Crematory on Dec. 9, 2025.
December 8, 2025

Johnny Wayne Jones, age 77, of Prescott, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2025. He was born on December 31, 1947 in Prescott to the late Mort Clyde and Myrtie Marie (Rogers) Jones.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; brothers M.C. Jones, Harold Jones, Donald Jones, Charles Jones, and Bobby Jones; and his sister Dorothy Dale.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jones; son Jeffrey Brent Jones (Deborah); daughter Jenifer Brooke Jones Simons (Bobby); granddaughters Ava Elise Jones and Ella Grace Jones; one brother Jerry Jones; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends whom he loved dearly.

Johnny served in the Army National Guard from 1968 to 1974. He served many years on the Board of Trustees of Prescott and was a long-time member of Prescott First United Methodist Church. He always enjoyed trips with his cruise group of friends and many other trips and vacations. He never met a stranger and had many friends he held dear.

Johnny was very active in all family activities and functions as Brent and Brooke were growing up. He never missed a ballgame, cheerleading camps, and church and school programs. He coached little league baseball and played on the church softball team. He turned out to be the church handyman and was called to fix things that quit working day and night. His neighbors never had to want for someone to help with yard work or minor repairs in their homes. He was always there and never complained.

Johnny came from a large family and loved and has remained close to all of them. Family reunions were important and always a treat for him. He loved his two granddaughters, Ava and Ella, so much, and their wishes were always at the top of his list.

We would like to give a special thanks to the staff at CHI St. Vincent Rehabilitation Hospital and Dierksen Hospice for excellent care provided to Johnny.

The family will be hosting a visitation on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 10:00am with a celebration of life starting at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church in Prescott, Arkansas.

Memorials can be sent to Prescott United Methodist Church, 125 W 2nd St N, Prescott, AR 71857.

Our spirits dropped as we read of Johhny's passing. Memories immediately flowed through our minds of times we shared as young couples, watching the children grow and recently the brief minutes Mike had with you and Johnny at the doctors office. We are so sorry he is gone ahead, only because we know he will be missed. Please, accept our prayers and thoughts as you go forward. We are close by if you need something. Mike and Teri Hughes, Hot Springs, AR
