Dover- Johnny (John) Richard Linthicum, aged 78, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025, at MacGregor Downs Health Center in Greenville, NC.

John was born January 8, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roger and Lucy (Dolliver) Linthicum. John married Lina Blynn (Byas) on August 26, 1967, in Lake, MS.

John and Blynn raised their family in Atlanta, GA, Memphis, TN, and Tallahassee, FL. They settled in North Carolina in 2006, living in Cary and Dover.

John is a Vietnam Veteran who served four years in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman in San Diego, CA and on board the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. He attended Atlanta Christian College in the 1970's. He and Blynn worked at Christian College in the 1970's. He and Blynn worked at Christian City in Atlanta, GA and at Florida Baptist Children's Home in Tallahassee, FL. Throughout his life he worked in Route Sales for several bread and cake companies. John also completed his LPN degree working with cancer patients at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. His final employment was with hospice of Wake County.

John enjoyed camping and hiking with his family and friends. He also enjoyed running and ran a marathon at 54 years young.

John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Blynn; his daughters, Jennifer Linthicum, and Brandi Taylor (Adam); his son, John Linthicum (Laurel); five grandchildren, Meredith Stanton (Keegan Swartley), Christen Lovell, Emma (Taylor) Stutts (Jesse Paige Taylor) and Caleb Taylor.

An intimate celebration of John's life will be held for family and close friends in North Carolina, and he will be taken to Oklahoma, his home state, to be laid to rest.
